It
was our weekly Wednesday off, and for the first time since last summer
this Wednesday was actually a really nice sunny day! We were also very lucky that we had
arranged for Martin from Cannondale to come and visit us in his huge
mobile demo van filled with all the latest and greatest shiny bikes and
bits.
With so many options as to what bikes to take out it was decided
that between the three of us we would take out a selection so we could
swap and change and feel the difference between all of them. My main bike for
the day was the Rush, a 110mm short travel front and rear xc/enduro/race/trail
bike. Dan selected the next suspension step up going for the Prophet SL,
this bike has 120mm travel front and rear, and Martin was riding with
the big boys on the Prophet with 140mm travel front and rear.
So
where did we go? Starting the ride out we went through Westcott and over
to the top of Holmbury Hill before dropping down into Peaslake where we stopped at the
ever glorious village shop for a drink and pie, this was followed by the
usual slog back up Hombury Hill before heading over to the top of Leith
Hill and back down into Wescott and returning to the shop in Dorking.
All in this was a great
day of riding and fantastic to have such great trails to ourselves almost
as lone mid week riders demoing the freshest technology available. To sum
up the bikes in a few words each (a full review would take to long but
feel free to come by the shop and talk to us about them):
The Rush- Superlight,
nimble, short travel, fantastic climber.
The Prophet SL- flickable,
lightweight and capable.
The
Prophet- solid, chuckable, moveable.
Great bikes, Great Weather, Great Day
Bring on Summer
